Our time is now!

The evidence shows Elyria is in trouble.  Elyria is most known for its illegal drug activity and related crime.  Many believe Elyria’s reputation as an impoverished city is getting worse and is irreversible.

Recent years have shown us that modest improvements, including new schools and a library, don’t make up for our increasing deficiencies as is evident by the major companies and families leaving Elyria.

I believe we can still turn Elyria around but only if we act wisely, boldly, and quickly.  Please examine this website to understand the transformative scale and credibility of my plan.

I get things done and this is what it looks like:

I know how to assemble the right teams to initiate and complete complex projects.  My team built Elyria City Hall, Elyria Municipal Court, Bullocks Parkway, and the East Falls Riverwalk.  We did all of this, and much more, without a tax increase.

Character matters!

Long-time Chronicle Telegram Editor, Andy Young, wrote about me as Elyria Mayor: “He had visionHe took on a bloated, overpaid and underworked Fire Department, at great cost to his popularity… He was remarkably transparent…”  March 15, 2015

It’s Time We Launch Elyria’s New Economy!

Elyria became a thriving city after World War II.  Before WWII, the people of Elyria made major enduring improvements like Cascade Park, Elyria High School, Lake Erie water supply, and Elyria Memorial Hospital.  The business growth came afterward.  We’ve not kept up with those types of improvements and its contributing to our decline.

The only reasonable strategy to reverse Elyria’s decline is to launch a new economic era for Elyria by significantly improving the quality of living and working here.

Our priorities to get us there:

  • Make improvements that reveal the magnificence of our river and waterfalls.
  • Build up our Downtown so it regains its uplifting value to all of Elyria.
  • Enhance public transportation creating a comprehensive LCT system in Elyria.
  • Create a 5G fiberoptic high-speed Internet municipal utility.
  • Make our streets good everywhere.
  • Make Elyria a bicycle friendly city.
  • Plant thousands of shade trees.
  • Clean up prominent blighted properties and help put them to their best use.
  • Help our schools be among Ohio’s best.
  • Our neighborhoods are among the most important communities in our lives.  I will work with all of you to improve their safety and overall desirability.
  • As my team did during my previous service as Mayor, we will frugally deliver City services and relentlessly acquire grants.

My preparation includes the wisdom that comes from leading Elyria through successes and setbacks.  I’ve shown I know how to do what needs to be done.  Together, we can do this.  We’ve done it before!
